Galveston Photographer Pre Session Warm up
The purpose of this article is to discuss the importance of a warm-up prior to a family photography session. You may be wondering what this is all about? It is the time when the photographer and the family interact before the session begins. It is recommended that you arrive at your session a little early, perhaps 15 minutes early, so the photographer will have this opportunity to get to know each individual. Children, in particular, may find it a little frightening to interact with someone they have never met before, especially if they are young. Photographers want to capture your child’s personality as clearly as possible, so they want him or her to feel comfortable around them and in the environment.
Therefore, if you arrive early, the photographer will be able to meet your children and family and will be able to get an idea of how the session will proceed. Some children warm up immediately while others need the entire warm-up period to become comfortable and open up. There is nothing wrong with that.
After the photographer introduces herself/himself, she/he will attempt to get to know your children. They will ask them questions about what they like, what they dislike, sing songs, perhaps play a game, etc. This is just to break the ice a little before the session begins, so your children will be more comfortable with the photographer by the time the session begins. Most photographers will advise you to be there early enough to have this time during your family photography session.
Following the completion of your session and your children’s realization that the photographer is not a scary creature, the next session should not require much warm-up time at all. In general, it is recommended for the first session together.
